For Participants

Progress and Plans

PACE-UP finished recruitment of patients in October 2013. We invited over 11,000 patients from 7 general practices in South West London to take part. We recruited 1033 patients into the trial. This was more than our target which is a fantastic result and we would like to thank everyone who is helping with study.

We have since followed up all participants, 12 months after entering the trial, to measure any changes in physical activity levels. At 12 months the findings showed a positive effect of the pedometer intervention on walking in both postal and nurse groups.  A summary of the findings can be found here.

We are now in the process of conducting a 3 year follow-up to see if participants' physical activity levels have been sustained beyond a year.

Feedback to Participants

For participants taking part in the 3 year follow-up trial we will feed back individual results on physical activity levels.
